Stuart Maconie, BBC 6 Music PresenterSTUART MACONIE is a writer, TV and radio presenter, poetry expert, pop culture commentator and keen fell walker.

He is co-host of the Sony Award winning Radcliffe and Maconie show which moved from BBC Radio 2 to BBC 6 Music earlier this year, and which continues to command huge listening audiences.

Stuart's first employment was as an English and sociology teacher during the 1980s, he subsequently entered the world of journalism and became editor of NME and latterly a regular contributor to Q Magazine.

He is the author of several notable music biographies, including those of Blur and James, and has also been credited as the man who first coined the label 'Britpop' which defined a significant slice of UK popular music during the mid 90s.

He has published several books, including "Cider With Roadies" "Pies And Prejudice" and his most recently issued "Hope And Glory". Stuart will be appearing at the Players Theatre for his Words And Music debut, reading sections from "Hope And Glory" and hosting a Q and A session relating to his work.
