The Minstrels Ballroom at the Crown Hotel is at the heart of the Words and Music Festival, being the setting for many of its events. The Grade II listed building has been a central feature of Nantwich for more than four hundred years. It retains many original features including an abundance of oak beams, wattle and daub walls and roaring fires. Its Georgian splendour has recently been beautifully restored providing an ideal venue for our performers.

Nantwich Players have been entertaining audiences since 1931, having been founded in 1927 as Nantwich Play-Reading Circle. In the early days members were a group of people who loved plays and met to read them in each other’s homes. Play-reading remains part of their current activities with one scheduled most months throughout the year.
The Nantwich Players' main activities are producing six plays a year and holding regular Tuesday social events. The theatre seats 82 people all with a good view of the stage, making it an ideal venue for the Words and Music Festival.

Malbank Studio Theatre is part of the historic Malbank School and Sixth Form located on ancient Welsh Row.
*The Crown Hotel is a Grade II listed building dating from 1585. The Ballroom is on the first floor of the building up a flight of stairs and due to the building’s age the stairs and floors are uneven. The venue has limited seating capacity so please arrive early if you need a seat, and accept that at Words & Music Festival Events some audience members will stand. Your ticket guarantees entry only. Anyone unable to stand for the gig through disability or medical reasons should contact the box office prior to the event. Words & Music Festival staff will do everything possible to facilitate access for all to the events.
